Lakewood's range of housing
Lakewood is Jefferson County's largest city, and its homes span decades. Older neighborhoods east of Wadsworth and around Belmar include post-war ranches and modest brick homes. Green Mountain, Bear Creek and the areas toward the hogback filled in with split-levels, bi-levels and two-stories through the 1970s and 1980s. Newer townhomes and infill are scattered throughout.
Split-levels and bi-levels are especially common, and they create tricky color problems: half-flights of stairs where one wall color has to work on two levels, lower levels with garden windows, and upper levels flooded with light. We plan transitions — where one color stops and the next begins — so the house reads as one design instead of a patchwork.
Light and color on the west side
Lakewood homes on Green Mountain and near Bear Creek Lake Park often have views west toward the foothills, which means strong afternoon light. Homes on flatter, tree-lined streets east of Kipling get softer, more filtered light. North-facing rooms in either can read cold, especially with cool gray paint that was popular in the 2010s.
Many Lakewood clients come to us wanting to move away from flat gray toward something warmer. We usually test a few warm whites and greiges against your floors, countertops and existing trim, then layer in one or two accent decisions. All of it is documented in your plan with brand, color code and sheen.
What a Lakewood project usually includes
A typical Lakewood whole-house repaint includes walls, ceilings, trim and doors across two or three levels, with drywall patching at old nail pops and settled corners. Kitchens and baths get scrubbable finishes. Families with kids or pets often choose a more durable eggshell or matte-enamel wall finish, which we specify in the plan.
- Split-level and bi-level homes with stair transitions
- Gray-to-warm palette updates
- Nail-pop and settling-crack repair
- Scrubbable finishes for busy households
